Thoughtful Action/Adventure

When I read fiction, I like stories that have amplitude wherein the narrative varies between fast and slow, emotional and robotic, have multiple track plot lines, and large character arcs. Typically, the “exciting” single track action/adventure genre is populated by high body count stories, be they murders, shootouts, pandemics, or natural disasters of various types. In the end, these typically ring hollow for me. Coming away from a story with non-fiction type information which would be useful to me in my life is why I read, and why I write the way I write.
