Margaret Read MacDonald
MacDonald is author of over 65 books on storytelling and folklore topics. A Ph.D. in Folklore from Indiana University, her career included over 30 years as a public children’s librarian, and many years teaching storytelling courses at the University of Washington, Lesley University and elsewhere. MacDonald has traveled widely, telling stories and offering her “Playing with Story” workshops in over 55 countries. Her easy-to-tell folktale collections and her folktale picture book retellings are popular with teachers and librarians, who find they are easy to use, and delight children.
