Ash, a young pharmacist in small town Virginia, would love to win Pharmacy of the Year for Cortez Apothecary but she has more pressing problems: being a suspect in both an opioid theft and a murder. It doesn’t help that her honesty and difficulty reading social cues means she tells the police how easily she could commit both crimes. It also doesn’t help that she has kleptomania. She receives guidance from a therapist she ignores, as well as her long-suffering lawyer, Mike, and nine-year-old Willow, who is determined to teach Ash social skills. But in the end, it’s Ash who must put the multiple elements together to come up with the solution.
